WORKSHOP
The Social Media Mining for Health (#SMM4H) Workshop provides an interdisciplinary forum to present and discuss natural language processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence at the convergence of social media and health. For the 10th #SMM4H Workshop, co-located at ICWSM 2025, we are broadening the scope to include additional web-based sources of "health real-world data" (HeaRD), inviting the submission of papers on original, completed, and unpublished research in all aspects at the intersection of web-based text data and health. SHARED TASKS
The #SMM4H-HeaRD shared tasks address natural language processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence challenges inherent to utilizing social media and other web-based text data for health-related research. For each of the 6 tasks below, teams will be provided with annotated training and validation data to develop their systems, followed by 5 days during which they will run their systems on unlabeled test data and upload their predictions to CodaLab. - Task 1: Detection of adverse drug events in multilingual and multi-platform social media posts
- Task 2: Extraction of clinical and social impacts of non-medical substance use from Reddit
- Task 3: Detection of dementia family caregivers on Twitter
- Task 4: Detection of insomnia in clinical notes
- Task 5: Detection and extraction of food recalls and foodborne disease outbreaks in online news articles
- Task 6: Detection of adverse vaccine events on Reddit
