CARO Workshop 2026 : CARO Workshop 2026 – Cybercrime Without Borders: Tracking the Global Underground
The 18th International CARO Workshop will be held in Innsbruck, Austria, on 25–27 February 2026.
Our 2026 theme is "Cybercrime Without Borders: Tracking the Global Underground", focusing on cross-border threats, global cybercriminal operations, and the challenges of investigation and attribution.
The CARO Workshop brings together cybersecurity researchers, threat intelligence experts, law enforcement, and industry professionals to exchange cutting-edge research and operational insights. The event follows the Chatham House Rule to encourage open discussion.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Cross-border cybercrime operations and global threat actor ecosystems
- Nation-state espionage and APT activity
- 0-day vulnerabilities and high-impact exploit chains
- The role of AI, ML, and big data in both attacks and defenses
- Attacks on critical infrastructure, including OT and IoT environments
- Supply chain compromises and software dependency threats
- Ransomware evolution: tactics, monetization, and response strategies
- Forensics and investigation of complex international cases
- Law enforcement actions and public-private cooperation
- Joint operations and success stories in disrupting threat actors
- Technical analysis of major malware campaigns, implants, and backdoors
- Darknet markets, forums, and services – trends and transformations
- Banking malware developments and financial sector targeting
- Malware evasion techniques and anti-analysis innovation
- Broader trends in cybercrime tactics, tools, and procedures
Presentation format:
Talks are either 40 minutes or 20 minutes including Q&A. Marketing or product pitches are not accepted.
Submission Guidelines:
- Submit proposals via the form at https://www.caro2026.org by 17 October 2025.
- Proposals should include an abstract, estimated duration, and speaker biography.
- First speakers of an accepted talk attend free of charge (reduced fee for second speaker, full fee for additional speakers).
- All presentations are delivered in person.
